Seattle.
This weekend I was able to go on a quick babymoon with one of my best friends! We flew into Seattle Friday night around 8:00, which actually still allowed us plenty of time for things that night! We dropped our stuff off at the hotel, then hurried out to see the Fremont Troll. From there, we stopped for tacos, then went dancing for a few hours! I don't know if it is because of the whole legal weed thing there, but the people there were a good time. Everyone was just casual, easy to talk to, and the place we went to dance was so fun because people just didn't seem to care about what anyone thought. It was so great, now that I have my energy back, to go dancing for a bit!
Saturday morning we were up bright and early! We started out at Pike's Market, wandering and looking at all the food, people, and flowers. We stopped at the original Starbucks for some hot chocolate, then got an almond croissant from a French bakery a few shops down. Then, after getting lost for a little bit, we found the gum wall and made our contribution. It was the grossest thing haha. Even though I only touched my own gum, it was gross to think about all those other people's spit on the wall with mine. From there, we went down to the pier and rode the Great Wheel, a giant ferris wheel that sits out over the water a little. It gave us a super great view of Seattle; we couldn't get over how lush and green everything was!!
That afternoon, we walked through the (typical) Seattle rain to the Space Needle and went all the way to the top. Again, it gave us an awesome view! Then we walked next door to Chihuly Garden and Glass, which was probably one of my favorite things. It is basically an indoor/outdoor museum of blown glass by Dale Chihuly. It was incredible! Later we had what was probably our most anticipated event for the weekend: the Pike Place Food Tour. We met our tour guide at the Seattle Art Museum, and we were the only two that had signed up for that afternoon! It was nice to get a more personable experience, and learn more about the history of the market. We ate crepes, Indian food, fresh fruit, smoked salmon, barbecue, sausage, and greek yogurt. It was all amazing! We finished the food tour early, since it was just the two of us, and were able to make the Underground Tour before it closed for the night. That was really cool too. It is considered underground now because they built the streets and the city up, so what used to be the first floor in all the buildings now seems like the basement. I honestly didn't know that Seattle would have so much history!
Sunday morning we woke up a little later than the day before, and went to an amazing donut shop. We may or may not have ordered four donuts, just so we could sample each of them. Then we went back to Pike's Market for a bit before our harbor cruise. The harbor cruise was fun, being able to see a different view of Seattle and learning more about its history, but the whole time I just kept thinking how neat it would be to see whales! So next time I go, I definitely want to do that instead. We ate lunch at a restaurant on the pier, mostly so we could go inside and escape the cold for a bit, but I got to eat some tasty fish tacos before we left, which really capped off the entire trip.
Seattle was really a neat place to visit! It seems like there is always so much to do, even if a lot of it is touristy, but it was so fun for us to play ultimate tourist for two days. And shout out to Alycia for a great best friend babymoon. It was nice to get out of Utah for a little bit and spend some much needed time together!
